Thanks Zynga for buying Draw Something and making it so that I have to skip 4 ads to get back to the main menu after sending a drawing. And as an added bonus to make my drawings really tough by not loading parts of my pictures so the guesser has bonus difficulty.
I think I was in like the 4th grade when I first saw the original 'Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark' starring Kim Darby. I saw the 2010 reimagining is now available on Netflix. That got me thinking... I wonder if it is time to introduce the children to the original classic.
Plants Vs Zombies Game of the Year Edition is on sale on SteamPowered.com for $2.49. Amazon has the best price on Crysis 2 at the moment at $8.29. It's pretty amazing looking at all the games coming out recently and how developers can make money with these low sale prices and compete for a peice of the gamer market. Big name developer will sell a game for $60 but then release older versions of the game as free to play with micro-transactions and then all these indie developers come up with mobile games that can get noticed by the high priced game developers. And then there are the companies that buy up the little guys and tell them what to build and it fails and the big company shuts down the indie company when they don't produce another hit. Even companies like id Software that really started the first person shooter craze can't keep fans interested very long. Their long awaited followup to Quake, Rage, is available for $11.78 on Amazon. Crypt's review of the game was 'Meh! It's ok.'
I picked up Batman: Arkham City on a Steam half price sale. Haven't had time to start playing it yet but it looks like it stays pretty true to Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition. Going to half to boot it up one of these days when I have some free time.
I just noticed I can watch the entire Hellraiser series on Netflix streaming. This after I watched the really bad Hellraiser: Revelations last night. I'm guessing the roman numerals in the title are so you know which ones have Doug Bradley as Pinhead so I might want to stay away from the last two.
I started messing around with MySQL on the server a couple of weeks ago before going on vacation. Then the server died and had to be rebuilt. now I'm not that interested in recofiguring all the SQL stuff again. I need to figure out how to back all of the server stuff up correctly. I thought I had it all backed up last time but it turns out a lot of files were not saved in the archive.
I came back from vacation to find my manager left and a couple of people are suggesting I take over the vacated position. Considering I can't tell which way the technology roadmap is going from day to day I don't think that's a good position to be in at the moment.
