I watched the 2011 reimagining of Don't Be Afraid of the Dark on Netflix Instant Streaming last night. The story ends pretty much the same as the 1973 original. Without giving too much away, somebody's gonna have some explaining to do. I don't know why they don't call up one of these paranormal activity tv shows to come and investigate the house. Instead they leave it for somebody else to stumble upon. Not cool. The remake is pretty good. It took some time to get into but it wasn't asfreaky spooky as I thought it was going to be. Good creature effects set design. Worth the watch on Netflix.
It sounds like people are not liking E3 much this year. Not enough new games and too many controllers. A couple of games that look really good though are The Last of Us and Watch Dogs.
The Last of Us is a post apocalyptic first person shooter with stealth being key. There are some incredible landscapes. The AI players look to be pretty smart some times but pretty stupid a few seconds later. Some of the bad guys will duck and cover when they see you swing your weapon out but then a second later they will stick their head up and wait. Probably because the game is for PlayStation only and console players can't turn as quickly as pc gamers. It looks really good but since it is on PlayStation only, I will never play it. Amazon.com has the game listed for a December 31, 2012 release.
Watch Dogs is the other game to keep an eye on. It looks like it's set in present day or maybe a little bit in the future. I'm not quite sure why the main character is being followed but it looks like everybody wants him dead and he can use his cellphone to control electronics to his advantage. The graphics look amazing but I will probably need to get a second videocard to really get the full experience. The game will be released on PlayStation, XBox and PC. Actual release date is unknown at this time.
I really need to remove the Netflix app from my phone. I would never actually watch a movie on my phone because it would kill my batter 30 minutes in unless it was plugged in and if it was plugged in and then I could be watching the movie on the tv.
E3 is going on now and lots of exciting news is showing up online like Valve Software's announcement that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be released August 21 and will be $15 for all platforms.
