I hate when people 'in the know' think they are doing you a favor when they tell you something is coming but then they don't tell you what it is. Ya know, if you're not going to tell me, don't bother telling me at all. Tell me if I should start working on my resume but other than that, I don't want to know. In other news if Dairy Queen's blood pressure monitor is right, I am on the high end of hypertension.
Keys are now being distributed for the closed beta of Battlefield on Play4Free! This is the free to play version of Battlefield 2 with microtransactions if you have too much money that you need to get rid of. It's being offered by the same guys behind the free to play Need For Speed. Sign up now before the keys are all gone.
I hate working with a bunch of people that 'don't know how'. Surely you've been doing this long enough that you can figure it out. It seems like they can do some pretty technical stuff when they want to but when it comes to the stuff they get paid to do, it's too hard. I hate this job for paying me as well as it does so I can't quit.
We had a pretty good Christmas here at the DOH! Network. Got a new Blu-Ray player with wi-fi that lets me watch Netflix and some other Internet content. Even better is that it is DLNA certified which means by adding MiniDLNA to the DOH! Network servers, I can now stream all those movies I have ripped. I will need to move the LaserDisc player into the office and rip all my LaserDiscs too so I can retire that. I need to figure out how to make the list of files look nicer too so it doesn't require digging into video_ts folders and selecting vts_01_1.vob. It doesn't like m4v files either. Maybe adding a codec on the server will fix that. MiniDLNA written by an employee at Netgear is super easy to set up requiring only three files and only one of those needs minor changing to point to your media folder on the server. The Mexicans In Black server is running an older kernel though so you should be running a Linux server with the 2.6 kernel or higher.
Happy New Year from all of your pals at the DOH! Network.
