The DOH! Network Enemy Territory server has been updated with the latest version of Omni-bot. It took a couple of hours for me to figure out why the bots would not load. Turns out I needed a server.cfg in the enemy-territory/omnibot folder. Once I did that everything started working as expected. I turned up the skill level but I think this new version of Omni-bot is a lot smarter with the bots using a lot more routes and tactics. I was repeatedly being gunned down by a soldier laying prone with the M60 who would move to different positions so he was never where you would go looking for him after his last kill. There are a lot more configs for other maps too but I don't want to make people have to download a bunch of files to play. It's bad enough that you need to download the Omni-bot files. A map would be huge. If you don't have it already, click here to download the full Enemy Territory game for Windows, Mac or Linux free.

I have become what I hate. The guy that is always asking questions of people. At least I like to think I will take notes and not have to go back and ask the same question over and over again. I think I am being tested at work to see if I am a keeper or not. I saw a big shuffle of employees a while ago and figured it was to see who could figure it out versus who is dead weight and now assignments are getting assigned to me that I have no clue what needs to be done so I am left to bug people. It doesn't help when the people telling you to do something send you in a direction that ends up making you waste three days only to come full circle back to the person who sent you in the wrong direction in the first place. At least the stuff I have to figure out involves some database stuff so maybe I can learn that enough to get a job as a database admin. Sha!

What is up with the big game commercials for movies? It use to be that this was where the studios really showed off their summer blockbusters. This year all the commercials were limited to 30 seconds and showed mostly content you can see in the trailers already released.

Word on the street at work is that we may be doing more jsp stuff. I need to break out the old server and update it to run Tomcat. And to think Todd of War laughed at me a couple of years ago when I picked up a JSP book for 35¢ at the book store.

I hate all these things that are _____ enabled. Recently I got a Blu-Ray player that was wifi ready. Luckily I was able to take it back and pay an extra 30 bucks for the wifi built in model but if I wanted to make it wifi enabled I would have to spend another 80 bucks for a wifi dongle! What a crock. And when i got a new radio for the truck and it was satellite ready meaning if I wanted satellite I would have to spend as much money as I had already spent on the radio to get another part to get satellite. And even when I got a new car that had satellite already built in they go and put a button in the controls for it. I wasn't really impressed with satellite when I had it for the free 3 month trial and now I am stuck with a satellite button on the dash that does nothing. Well it does take me to a 24 hour a day commercial for satellite if I press it by accident.

I haven't heard back on my beta tester request for Battlefield but that should not stop you from signing up now. New keys are released every couple of weeks. Yours could be coming up next. Hopefully I will have time to play. I haven't touched StarCraft II or Team Fortress 2 in a couple of weeks.
