Updated the Need For Speed World stats on the right to disappear when the NFS servers are down for maintenance.
I always wish I had taken better care of my teeth growing up so I didn't get cavities and have to get fillings but even if I had, all it takes is one 6 year old to do a knee lift to my chin and chip a tooth. $(@#*!
I had to give two presentations in Anaheim last week on HTML5 and all the cool things it does that we can't use on the sites I get paid to work on. I did finally make something in HTML5 for this site though in the form of the Need For Speed World Win/Loss pie chart on the right. After I figured out I was using degrees when I should have been using radians it was a lot easier to get things to line up. If you don't see it, you need a newer browser.
UPDATE: Hmmmm... Of all the browsers to have a problem with my canvas pie chart I wasn't expecting Chrome or Opera to not be able to show it. It currently only shows up in Firefox.
UPDATE 2: Turns out Opera and Chrome didn't like the way the positioning of the circle was being done. Problem solved. Now to figure out what's up with the alignment of some items in the nav on Opera.
Speaking of Need For Speed World, the 5.00 patch is now available for download. it's just under 940 megs so I probably won't be playing tonight. I'm not so sure I'm gonna like the new 'fine tune your car' and 'repair your damage' features. For a full list of the changes in the update, check out the official Need For Speed World site.
>Sweet! I was just surfing around the web when I came across this little news item about free multiplayer Battlefield this Spring. This isn't that cheesy Battlefield Heroes version. This looks to be a cross between Battlefield 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. There are microtransactions available to get upgrades but you should be able to keep up with the other players without having to pay for anything. Click here to view the Battlefield Play4Free teaser. (Thanks ActionTrip)
If you can't wait that long for a free game, check out Need For Speed World. It's a free version of Need For Speed that looks to be based on the Most Wanted cities but with newer cars. Microtransactions will get you upgrades sooner than earning them
AMC's The Walking Dead started strong on Sunday. I'm thinking I might not watch it till I have a bunch of episodes on the DVR so I don't have to wait a week between episodes because the first episode just wasn't enough. Life would be so much nicer if we just had to kill zombies all day. None of this 'what's wrong with this javascript' or 'make this presentation to 100 people'. Just keeping yourself armed. I think if there was a zombie apocalypse I would probably stay in my house and make it zombie-proof. There's a Costco not too far away to get food from and the gated community gives you another line of defense than just the house perimeter. AMC's Survival Test says I'm a natural leader so I should do well.
