I am starting to see why the Ever Pissy One always seemed angry and would berate people for asking for his assistance. Sure he would help but the putdowns at least in my case made me want to learn how things work so I wouldn't have to ask for his help. Now I see why he would do that because everybody wants the easy way out and never bothers to write anything down or bookmark anything I tell them so they keep coming back asking for help. Hopefully all that will change with the launch of Jupiter. At least they won't be coming to me because I will know as much as them. Actually who am I kidding? They come to me instead of going to the people who would know now anyway. Hopefully at least with Jupiter there will be one toolset instead of all these different business units using their one off tools that are not supported anymore. If nothing changes I'm gonna have to start being offensive.
Arghhh!!! Why is the caching server taking so long to update? And why is my javascript working on the 580 games but not the 750 ones? It's the same code!!!! UPDATE: Apparently the caching server doesn't like to update as much if you edit files in Beyond Compare.
I think I'm catching the kids illness. I'm not feeling so good.
Finally there is something to look forward to in HTML5. Dominic Szablewski has created the Impact Engine to create sweet javascript games like Biolab Disaster, one of the sweetest HTML5 games available. Plus the Impact Engine has a nice GUI for creating new levels where you actually draw the level onscreen instead of programming it all and hoping it looks like what you want. Check out the making of video to see the Impact Engine's level editor in action.
AMD and Steam have teamed up to keep ATI videocard drivers up to date. Now this is a good idea because I hate having to go and download new drivers all the time. I was just thinking this morning how annoying Flash Player and Firefox plugin updates apopping up all the time is so annoying. AMD doesn't do that at least but it would be nice if all this update stuff would just happen in the background and stop forcing me to restart when I sit down to do something. So now, ATI/Steam users can keep their videocard drivers updated without having to go and download new drivers every couple of weeks.
DOH! I'm gonna need to put a new videocard on my Christmas list. Just tried the demos for Batman: Arkham Asylum and FUEL but they won't run on my system because I don't have Pixel Shader 3.
Am I the only one that thinks Linkin Park has jumped the shark with their new song 'The Catalyst'? Every time I hear it, I expect to hear somebody yelling 'Mortal Combat!!!!' at the keyboard part. Hopefully the rest of the album is better but I'm not digging this first song.
Speaking of digging and sucking Linkin, the latest release of user generated news site Digg blows. There's nothing interesting on there now except when links to reddit are posted. As a result I have changed the link to Digg in the pulldown at the top of the page to reddit.
Valve's Gabe Newell announced three major surprises over the next 12 months to PC Gamer UK. 'The next 12 months'? Do we really need to know this far in advance that surprises are coming? Where's my new Left4Dead content punks?!! That's due in the next couple of months. Get on that! (Thanks CVG by way of ActionTrip)
I had a guy fix a dead spot on my lawn because I just don't have the time to grow it with the home owners association breathing down my back threatening to fine me. He told me I fertilize it too much and don't water enough. I water it too much if you ask me. Plus I have spots all over the place. I tell ya it's dogs but this is another conversation I can't win. Apparently everybody knows everything better than me cuz I know nothing. When can I retire so I can just work on my lawn all day like the guy across the street?
I was starting to stress out about the boss going on a week vacation and leaving me in charge of the sharepoint at work for assigning jobs and wouldn't you know she up and went on a permanent vacation so now I am stuck with managing the sharepoint indefinitely. Darn this job for paying me too well that I can't just up and quit.
