I did so well this Christmas that my Wish List has pretty much been destroyed for future generations. I received a new Logitech G110 black gaming keyboard and some sweet games but then the gaming computer died so I have to upgrade my gaming machine. Darn the luck. Motherboard, cpu cooler and case are on the way. CPU and ram are in process. Drives can all be repurposed from the gaming machine since they are all farily new. I should probably order a copy of Windows 7 instead of reinstalling XP. I was hoping to switch the gaming motherboard over to the server so it can be used to host Steam powered games again but it is toast. I had to move the main hard drive from the gaming machine to the kids Dell so I could log into work pretty much every day of my vacation and have found that the Dell can really dog on as little as VPN and a browser window. I could really use a refresh of all the computers in the house.
Once the gaming machine is back up and running I was thinking I should play StarCraft II again but this time on easy mode. I just don't have the kind of time it takes to figure out how to beat the levels on expert.
It was a good Christmas for gaming this year. Got a new Logitech keyboard and some cool games. Too bad the gaming machine completely died. First I woke up on Monday to no video at all. Then it shut itself off. Then it would only start up once or twice every 3 hours or so and shut itself off like 4 seconds later. Looks like I am going to be forced to upgrade the machine. The gaming machine won't work as a replacement for the server now for sure.
So I was checking out Steam's Great Gift Pile Sale today and saw they gave me a copy of Portal 2 to gift to somebody. Now to figure out who to gift it to. Of the three people I can think of, three don't really play games all that much and the fourth doesn't have a machine that can run it. Hmmmm...
I was just checking out the games over on SteamPowered.com. Has EverQuest® II been free to play for a while and I just missed it? If not, it is now. Shaka will be so excited because I remember him spending many hours playing that when it first came out.
Another free to play game is APB Reloaded. Race cars, shoot up stuff and create your own unique character. Join before December 19th and get a Premium Upgrade Pack for 10 days! That gets you experience and currency bonuses, some discounts when buying stuff and access to customization suites I guess for tricking out your car paint job and character. Check out the download page for more info and how to redeem the pack.
And as always Team Fortress 2 is free to play. I haven't been in there in a while. I will have to connect and see what new hats they have.
I just figured out by mistake that when using vi in putty to edit a file pressing r will let you replace text. It makes sense since hitting i lets you insert but I never thought of replacing. Nice. Now to figure out how to make mail cgi not send on submission if it doesn't match a specific criteria.
