The new server is up. Still troubleshooting some issues but most things should be working as expected like why it thinks it's June already.
UPDATE: Turns out I had to set the timezone in php.ini because PHP was running on Greenwich time.
The Spiff Game Servers page is up. I had to enable cgi in Apache. The previous Slackware loaded all modules by default. The latest Slackware has them off and add them as you need them. This was also the issue with the public_folders in the user home directories.
Well, I survived two full weeks of working again. I think I managed my time better when I was working before because now it seems like I don't have any time to do anything when I get home from work and I even get home earlier than I was before. I was able to work on some sites this week and can see they don't follow the same rules as the old job. Copyrights don't show up on all pages and pages that are part of the same site can open in new windows and have totally different fonts and colors. These could be legacy sites from the company they bought a couple of years ago that just haven't been updated yet but it makes for a bad guest experience in my book.
The new Linux server is up and running. It took some work to get the 64 bit system to run 32 bit apps but it looks like it is now. I have a Team Fortress 2 server up and can join it from another machine and play against bots. If you want to join it look for QuakrPark in the server list or hit ~ and type 'connect 68.183.140.5' until it replaces the DOH! Network. The Plex and Squeezebox software are still a work in progress. Plex is installed but not starting and the Squeezebox software is throwing an error when I try to install but it should be safe for me to start fixing the server settings so it can take over for the laptop server. I was able to get Samba running but I need to move all the existing DOH! Network users and their mail and the web site over although I think I may strip out a ton of web site features until I can update them.
The new DOH! Network server is just about ready to go live. WordPress and movies data bases have been migrated, qStats are up for the game stats page. Team Fortress 2 server is running and Samba is set up. Just need to move over a couple of files that have been updated in the last couple of days.
Thanks to Lil Trooper for the new server for the DOH! Network. Now to do all the setup. Too bad I started my new job this week so I don't have all the time in the world. First I need to find my latest Slackware install disck. I was thinking of installing the latest release but Slackware has changed from MySQL to MariaSQL and I'm not sure I'm ready for that. I haven't seen many jobs looking for MariaDB. Now if it was Mongo I would be up for that. As for media streaming, I'm thinking I might switch out Plex for the XBox media server but that will be for after the server is up and running how I like it. I should be able to run some game servers again too. If only my upload speeds were better, the ping times for outside gamers would not be so bad.
Is this 'May the Fourth be with You' thing going to be a yearly occurrence now or is it just really popular on this particular 4th?
