My net worth at work just went up last week with the loss of the other code monkey with 10 years of service. I should ask for a raise before they realize I don't really know how to code.

The StarCraft 2 closed beta has started over on Battle.net. If you have a full version of a Blizzard game, you can sign up to be eligible. I was able to sign up with my original StarCraft game so now I just have to wait and see if they pick me.

In other Battle.net news, the new version of Battle.net let me enter the game key and then download the game similar to Valve Software's Steam app. Blizzard's system isn't a slick as Valve's but it works. Plus if you only got the original StarCraft and not the expansion, Blizzard includes the expansion pack free when you download StarCraft which is cool because the expansion pack doesn't have it's own game key. Now if only there was a way to get my WarCraft II game added. I guess that one is too old that they weren't doing cd keys back when it shipped.

UPDATE: Ok, I take back everything I said about Battle.net. After waiting 3 hours for the StarCraft installer to finish downloading, the installer automatically started up and asked me for a 26 character CD key. The only key I have that worked fine to get me into the downloading area is only 13 characters. Stupid Battle.net. Uninstall. I'll show them! I'll just install from the CD.

Whose great idea was it to tie real time traffic conditions into satellite radio? You would think if your navigation system could tell you what road you are on, it could use that information to figure out who else is on the road and hasn't moved in a while but no. They make that info part of satellite radio that isn't all that so that when your three months of free satellite service with your new car is over you can't tell which areas to avoid unless you subscribe to that lame satellite radio again. And they put a satellite button in the radio controls! Now I have a button that does nothing! Stupid radio!

I was asked to help out with the Prince of Persia site today. It's good to get to jimmy with some Disney Pictures code again. I managed to figure out the problem that was causing the Error 47: Wrong URL message. I downloaded one of the clips to see if having it local to the rest of the files would work and when I noticed it was only 1kb I figured it's just a text file disguised as a .mov file. opened it with Wordpad and sure enough there was another URL inside. Drop that into the HTML and like magic it started working. I was surprised to see that my popup code for playing QuickTime clips in the QuickTime player hasn't changed at all since I left that team. I also noticed that I wrote some whack code back in the old days before I knew about getElementByID. I cleaned up the popup while I was in there so we'll see if that starts to appear on other sites or if the Pictures team sticks to what they know. Now to figure out my own Flash problems.

I saw by way of ActionTrip that the Aliens vs. Predator multiplayer demo is now available on Steam. Will have to download it and check it out. Maybe see if there is a server version.

Sweet! I don't need to fax a bunch of junk to E3 this year. A couple of clicks and I'm registered.

The new and final season of LOST starts in 30 minutes. Have to update fast.

Got a deal on Disney Mix Sticks for the kids for Christmas. I was able to put some songs on one of the Mix Sticks for Half Pint but like three weeks later it wouldn't connect to the computer to let me add more. it would charge though. I eventually figured out i have to put some pressure under it to get the connectors in the USB plug to make full contact. Still don't know why the other Mix Stick with video doesn't like the format of the Disney Mix Clip video.

Looks like June will see me doing more coding as Disney XD will move out of the framework we just got it into last year. That will allow for more customization and more HTML coding for me. That's cool.

The guys over at TeamFortress.com have released some of the propaganda posters from their Propaganda contest from a while back. Check out some of their favorites on the official site.
