Thanks to Burning Mass and Sabre for pointing out that Quake Live is now in open beta so you can sign up to play today! Not that I have played since I got my key and got my butt kicked by some foul mouthed little punk but hey! Whatever! I think the guy was cheating anyway so hopefully the cheat detection has improved and it will actually be fun to play now. Battlefield Heroes looks to still be in closed beta but you can try signing up on the official Battlefield Heroes website.
Man! I wish you could do more with the Wii Wi-Fi stuff. Like pulling down my Mario Kart stats to display on the site would be cool. I wish the Wii friend settings were easier too. You have to send your Wii's id to your buddy. He has to send you his. Then if I want to send the Dr. Mario Online Rx. demo to my buddy, I have to get his player id. Same with Mario Kart. Can't it just hack into my email and send out my info to everybody in my address book? Any friends of the DOH! Network can send your Wii id numbers and I will smack ya down.
DOH! Why does it seem like every time a new Windows OS is getting close to release, the current version you are using seems to start getting flaky? Or is it just me? I haven't loaded anything new onto my computer except for Gears of War but even before that I have been getting blue screens od death even when nothing is open. I just turn on the computer and I can get a blue screen. Do they include some kind of self destruct in one of those patches they release? I have been hearing good things about the newest OS but I'd prefer not having to upgrade right away.
Speaking of Gears of War, Dom and I are stuck in a shanty town with a Brumak hunting us and a sniper hiding in one of the abandoned buildings. Lil Trooper was asking where all the DOH! Network servers went. I told him I shut most down except TrackMania Nations since nobody's playing but he's getting a jones on to play something so I might have to bring some back online. I saw Shaka is playing Warhammer 40k Dawn of War II so expect a full review from him on Game Republic soon.
DOH! The DOH! Network was down for a couple of days this week while I waited for a new modem to arrive from DSL Extreme. The D-Link I had was only a little over a year old but it toasted itself. At least when I got somebody from tech support on the phone, he didn't have me run through all the tests to be sure it was broken. I should really think about getting a backup modem one of these days.
Well it looks like Disney XD officially went live. There are still some issues to be resolved but the part I was working on looks good. Hopefully it will mellow out and I can actually work on something else.
DOH! I had a bad code day today. Had to do a region detect at work but the IP lookup tool only works on the Go.com domain and the site I was working on is not part of the go network. And then all the scripting I did over the weekend to this page was throwing javascript errors and things weren't working right. I had to disable a bunch of stuff before work and just now managed to get some but not all of it working. I would try and get the rest of the stuff working but I have to go watch Heroes right now.
So the Gears of War fix of rolling your pc clock back to before January 28th works and I have been able to play again. I tell ya, it's so nice to be above ground and out in the daylight again. Dom and I were not on speaking terms after he listened to the old guy at the gas station and went in for ammo when I said let's go and he ended up costing us valuable time that led to us being ambushed at the station but I don't hold a grudge. Hey, we're all fighting the Locust right? So it's all good. I mean so what if he doesn't follow my orders when I say to fall back and we'll let the bad guys come to us but no, he has to run ahead and get pinned down and wounded so I have to risk my neck trying to reach him. It's not like we're saving the world or something. I'm sure the Locust are just misunderstood and we can all get along if we give peace a chance. Why just the other day I was saying to Dom, 'Hey Dom, let's just hang back here and see what the Locust do.' but he knew better and ran in with guns blazing shooting anything that moved and then when he realized he was out of ammo and bleeding to death and I had to clean up his mess by myself to save him did he say 'Thanks Fenix. You were right'? Noooooooooooooooo. He just grabbed some ammo when I finished and ran off again.
